Based in Grahamstown that was founded as a military outpost by leutenant colonel John Greame in 1812. Home to over 49 religeous buildings, Grahamstown is effectionately known as the city of the saints. Hosting some of the finest educational institutoins in South Africa, Grahamstown is also known for Rhodes university and the anual National Grahamstown arts festival.
Visitors should take the time to walk through the city and its historical centers and to visit some of the museums. A highlight is the observatory museum which houses a Victorian camera with a magical mirror which reflects the whole town on a large circlular table.
